A walk-through of projector white-balance and grayscale test patterns, meant to be judged by eye against a neutral reference rather than measured with an instrument. Work through the steps in order — black level and white level first, since they change how the grayscale step looks.

Before you start: make sure your source device's HDMI output range (Full Range RGB vs. Limited/16–235) matches what the projector expects — a mismatch makes black-level and white-level patches look wrong for reasons that have nothing to do with tint. Also turn off any dynamic laser dimming / ABL / "Eco" or "AI Picture" mode — it will fight you on the flat white and gray fields.
